This study examined how perceived security affects acceptance of Internet banking, with behavioural intention acting as a mediating factor in Nigerian deposit money institutions. Based on survey field data from 423 deposit money bank clients in Nigeria, this study was performed. With the aid of ADANCO 2.1.1, survey data were examined using the partial least square (PLS) method and structural equation modelling (SEM). The study offers evidence that behavioural intention and perceived security both positively impact whether someone will accept using Internet banking. Further investigation suggests that acceptance of using Internet banking and perceived security is somewhat mediated by behavioural intention. Finally, the results indicate that behavioural intentions are more strongly influenced by perceived security than acceptability of using the internet, but acceptance of using online banking is more strongly influenced by behavioural inattention. By demonstrating the links among the studied components in the setting of a developing country and by demonstrating the mediating role of behaviour intention between perceived security and online banking, the study contributes to perceived security, internet banking, and behaviour intention. Overall, the conclusions will serve as a springboard for further empirical discussions on the topic and serve as a roadmap for decision-makers when it comes to customers' intentions to utilize Internet banking.
